About Us

Welcome to Hacker-Defender. We are a national recruiting firm and publisher of MilitaryOfficerJobs.com, a career resources directory and national job board for retiring US military officers.

It was as a result of our experiences developing this site for military officers that we decided to create Hacker Defender. Our site was hacked and wrecked four times during and after development despite all our efforts to secure it.

Not being web tech experts ourselves we relied on our hosting service support reps and freelance tech developers for advice on how to lock down our site — but the hacks continued.

Gradually the realization dawned that tech pros know many ways to get into your site that you will almost never hear about from your hosting service or developers. The disturbing fact is you can change all your commonly-known passwords and even hire a reputable security/monitoring firm, and you may still get hacked.

In Hacker Defender we've tried to change that, bringing together in one place virtually every single hacker entry point and intrusion trick in a step-by-step security plan. Plus the site offers several useful and free security scans you can use to gauge the present security status of your site. We also offer analysis of your scan results if you need it.

We hope Hacker-Defender will save many hard-working web and app entrepreneurs from the misery and frustration we experienced of seeing their sites vandalized, wrecked, or exploited by hackers and/or malicious or disgruntled previous developers.

Of course 100% security is impossible but if you follow our three-step security plan, your site will at least have all known doors and windows closed and locked.

If you have any questions, comments or know of any hacker vulnerabilities we missed, please let us know.

HACKER DEFENDER

A plain-English security and hacker prevention guide for anyone who owns a website. But your site's security can never be 100% guaranteed and is not a one-time task. Revisit Hacker Defender whenever you make changes to your website, especially if you ever need to hand your site's passwords over to a developer. Schedule regular security checks and change your passwords periodically for maximum security and peace of mind. And always be sure you have a recent complete backup of your website.

Built for website owners, not security experts. Keep your doors closed.
